BMJ Industry Awards 2021 | Save The Date – Friday 26 November 2021

BMJ Industry Awards 2021 | Save The Date – Friday 26 November 2021

Following the government’s recent announcement outlining the roadmap for exiting lockdown, we are confident that this year’s BMJ Industry Awards will be able to go ahead in its traditional format on Friday 26 November 2021.

Subject to circumstances, we look forward to welcoming the very best from across the builder’s merchant sector to the awards gala taking place in the heart of London towards the end of the year.

Builders Merchants Journal editor-in-chief Fiona Russell-Horne comments: “We are an industry that thrives on connection and I’m sure that everyone will share my excitement at the prospect of reconnecting with peers, networking and celebrating the collective successes of the past twelve months.

“Of course, numbers could still be limited so we would encourage anyone that wants to be a part of this hotly-anticipated industry event to get involved early to secure their place.”

Entries open Monday 1 March

Entries and nominations for this year’s scheme open on Monday 1 March and merchants, suppliers and professionals alike are invited to put themselves in the running to win a coveted accolade.

This year’s awards line-up features a number of new additions that have been designed to reflect the eclectic nature of the industry, which will recognise everything from small, independent, multiple and national merchants to decorating, landscaping and bathroom suppliers.

A comprehensive list of categories is available on the BMJ Industry Awards website.

BMJ Industry Awards goes digital for 2020!

BMJ Industry Awards goes digital for 2020!

Set your Microsoft Outlook calendars for Friday 17th July because the BMJ Industry Awards 2020 is going ahead as a virtual event.

After careful consideration, Builders Merchants Journal publisher Datateam Business Media has made the difficult decision to not host a live event in 2020 but are excited to reveal the plans for the first ever virtual BMJ Industry Awards – which will be hosted by none other than Alan Dedicoat, the Voice of the Balls on the National Lottery and announcer of Strictly Come Dancing, who previously provided voiceovers for the event in both 2018 and 2019.

“It’s very disappointing that we will not be able to run the event this year in the way that we planned,” says BMJ Editor-in-Chief Fiona Russell Horne. “However, give that this is an industry that runs on networking and people getting together in large groups, it has just not proved possible. So, we believe we have come up with a viable alternative.

“The votes had already been counted and checked and the winners’ names engraved on the trophies. We couldn’t let the opportunity slip to celebrate those winners who, this year probably more than ever, have worked so hard to make their businesses a success. The benefits of cyber-space, of course, are that you are not limited by social distancing, nor by the capacity of the venue. So, I’d like to invite everyone who had hoped to attend the awards lunch, and those who wanted to come but for whom there was no room at the inn, to attend the virtual event, maybe with a glass of something to hand to toast the winners, and share in their success.”

The virtual event will be hosted on the BMJ Industry Awards website on Friday 17th July. There is no registration required to join the live stream: professionals are invited to simply log on to the website from 3.00pm, sit back and enjoy the proceedings and join the conversation on the event’s social wall using the hashtag #BMJIndustryAwards on Twitter.

Fiona Russell Horne notes: “We would like to encourage everyone to share the link to the live stream with their colleagues and get as many people involved as possible. Share the link, share the love and hopefully next year it will be business as usual!”

Announcement: BMJ Industry Awards 2020 postponed

Announcement: BMJ Industry Awards 2020 postponed

Following the latest information and guidance issued by the UK government, Datateam Business Media has taken the decision to postpone the BMJ Industry Awards, which was due to take place on Friday 15 May 2020.

Event manager Dawn Tucker comments: “While the entire BMJ team was looking forward to hosting this incredible industry celebration, we have taken the decision to postpone the upcoming event as the safety and wellbeing of our attendees, staff and their communities is our number one priority.

“We are working hard with the venue and all involved in the awards to confirm a suitable new date, and we will keep everyone involved updated as the situation develops. In the meantime, we would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult times – and we look forward to celebrating with all of you when we are through these unchartered waters.”

Tickets that have been purchased for the original date will be honoured for any rescheduled date and sponsors will continue to receive coverage via all of the relevant channels for the time being.

If you have any queries regarding the postponement of the BMJ Industry Awards, please contact Dawn Tucker at dtucker@datateam.co.uk.

Keyline (Diversity Award)

Specialising in the heaviest side of the merchant sector – civil engineering, drainage and large infra-structure projects, Keyline sits in what might be seen as the most male-dominated area, yet over the past few years has increased the number of women working throughout the company, from the trade counter right up to board level. The company has also implemented a number of initiatives to improve employees’ work/life balance and mental and physical health.
